Rothsay Girls Open Playoffs with 11-1 Win Over Ashby

The Rothsay softball team scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning and went on to defeat Ashby 11-1 in the elimination round of the Section 6A playoffs.  Katie Reber (5IP, 0R, 2H, 3BB, 6K) was the winning pitcher for the Tigers.

“It was fun to win our first playoff game in front of such a great crowd,” reported Rothsay Head Coach Anita Heier.  “The atmosphere was great and the girls had a lot of fun.  These girls continue to get better every game and are enjoying every step along the way.”

The Tigers five runs in the opening inning scored on five hits, including a double by Madison Tillman (2H, 2RBI), and triples by McKenzie Tillman (2H, 3RBI) and Bethany Danielson.  They added another run in the third on a RBI single by Kinsey Heier and Katie Reber (2H, 2RBI) delivered a RBI double in the fifth.  Madi Tollerud also had 2 hits and drove in two runs.

Ashby scored their only run in the sixth and Rothsay scored 4 more runs in the bottom of the sixth with singles by Allison Phillips and Tollerud.

Rothsay will face Wheaton/Herman-Norcross at 4:00pm Thursday at Minnewaska Area High School.
