The Ashby baseball team captured the Pheasant Conference championship with a perfect 10-0 record after sweeping Border West on Thursday, 7-0 and 5-3.  The Arrows are now 16-1 on the season.

Carter Spangler threw a gem in game one with seven shutout innings, allowing 4 hits, walking one and striking out seven.  A four run fourth inning helped Ashby secure the win.  Carter, Carson Spangler and Torin Olson each had two hits to lead Ashby.  Ashby didn’t commit an error in the field.

Border West was led by Eli Larson with 2 hits in 3 at bats.

Ashby took the lead for good in the third inning of game two when they scored 3 runs, highlighted by a 2-run double off the bat of Hunter Norby.  Norby (4.2IP, 4K, 4H, 3R) was the winning pitcher and Carson Spangler (2.1IP) earned the save.  Olson went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Arrows.

Jake Volker, who hit a solo homer in the second inning, led Border West with two hits in three at bats.

“Two great wins for a conference championship,” exclaimed Ashby Head Coach Jared Larson.  “Super proud of these boys.”
